Description

The Longwood area of Brookline is comprised of a historic district. This area is characterized by gothic architecture, with a notable point at Longwood Towers, which was part of the Gothic Revival in the 1920s. Other residences in the area are Second Empire with Gothic elements. The area is well served by bus lines as well as the MBTA Green line. The most notable aspect of the area is the Longwood Park. The park is considered to be the oldest grove of European beech trees in the United States, and is one of the most cherished green spaces in the Greater Boston area.
